Once upon a tree – youth project

ONCE UPON A TREE

The overall goal of the project is to connect art, culture, ecology & education to build stronger links between people and nature. Today, more than ever, there is an urgent need for creative interdisciplinary initiatives involving young people into the major environmental and sustainability challenges of the modern world.  In our project, we aim to emphasize the role of the tree in ecology and culture.

WHY TREES?

Trees are more important for mankind than most of us ever noticed. They are vital to us. Like oxygen. After all, thanks to them we can breathe. Trees must be at the heart of our climate change response. They reduce energy usage and air pollutants. Trees are a game-changer in the fight against climate change. Unfortunately, instead of having symbiosis with trees, the effects of human activities put them and at the same time all of us in danger.  We should get to know them better and to understand their importance in the whole environment. Awareness makes a difference.

We believe that art & culture help bridge the gap between humans and the environment, that is why the project encourages participants to create an idea for their own interdisciplinary youth project – a creative initiative connecting art, and culture with ecological issues related to trees. It can be an idea for a series of photography, an article, a play, a game, a presentation, a social happening, a movie,  and lots more.

What is the structure of the project?

The project consists of 3 stages:
