On 28 November 2024, at the Jemiołowa (pl. mistletoe) open-air market in Wrocław, we will present you with the works of nearly 20 artists – you will be able to look at the subject of debt with magnifying glasses and microscopes of artistic sensibility. There will be moving and still images, objects, installations, performative actions.
Can we look at the issue of dependency (social, natural, you name it) in a broader context? To this story of paradise, where man was hired to look after all living beings and was quite quickly banished from it, add the story of today, when we are already beginning as a society (not just individuals) to see the interdependence with the world of plants, animals and bacteria, with ecosystems, forest and river complexes, with the ecosystem of the whole Earth, with the so-called inanimate world. How much do we owe to each newly defined entity of this thicket of beings/existences – how much does it owe to us? It is probably time to see that there is no such Earth entity that can be appropriated and exploited with impunity, without gratitude, without giving back, without flow.
Artistic people in various forms will speak out about DEBT as part of the second edition of the artistic and environmental event Bazar Bizarre at the Jemiołowa Marketplace in Wrocław. You too can make a statement. We invite you to the opening of the first day of the event: 28 November at 6 p.m. On the following two days, you will be able to experience encounters, conversations, transformation, reflection, observation in the space of the Market.
Bring thermoses and anything that warms you up. We’ll light bonfires for you, we’ll turn on the lights to make this dark and chilly day light up and glow. It will be rich, reflective, joyful and communal.
The event is organised by the art and farming collective Bazar Bizarre art_at_the_market.
Bazar Bizarre’s educational, gardening and farming activities are co-organised by the Foundation for Sustainable Development
The space is co-organised by Bazar Krótka Droga and the Jemiołowa open air market also known as the Mistletoe Market
The event is financed by the Bazar Bizarre collective’s own funds and, in terms of educational, agricultural and horticultural activities, co-financed by EU funds, Horizon2020 programme, FoodCityBoost project, 101132315.
